Definiens appoints Dr. Wolfgang Rencken as Vice#President Research & Development

Munich, Germany – June, 1st, 2006: Definiens, a leader in advanced image intelligence solutions, today announced the appointment of Dr. Wolfgang Rencken as Vice President Research & Development. Dr. Rencken will be responsible for all worldwide research and development activities, including Definiens' Enterprise Image Intelligence platform, Cognition Network Language Competence Center, Life Sciences Solutions, Geospatial Intelligence Solutions, and Research. He brings to Definiens more than 15 years' industry experience in senior research and management positions. Dr. Rencken holds a bachelor degree in Electronic Engineering of the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and a D. Phil in Engineering Science of the University of Oxford, England. Prior to joining Definiens, Dr. Rencken was Vice President Engineering of the Siemens Medical Solutions Software Components and Workstations Business Unit running a software platform development of more than 400 developers with sites in USA, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia and India. Besides holding senior management positions in engineering at Siemens Medical Solutions, he worked at Siemens Corporate Research and Development, specializing in service robotics, data fusion and image processing.
