Cell-based Assays
High-content Analysis • High Throughput Screening • Life Cell Imaging
Imaging technologies, such as automated microscopy, generate vast quantities of data containing a wealth of information. The challenge is to capture this information and use it to make informed decisions during drug development.
Automated image analysis is commonly used in high-content analysis. However, current solutions are often narrow in scope, platform-dependent, proprietary and perform well only in simple image analysis tasks. The result is that researchers are unable to extract all the potential insights and intelligence from image data. Furthermore, because existing high-content analysis solutions are proprietary, image data cannot be compared along the drug development lifecycle, an essential requirement for translational medicine.
By contrast, Definiens is independent of any instrument or process. It works with 2D, 3D and 4D (3D over time) image data from diverse image capture systems and allows cell-based assay data to be combined with data from other systems such as digital slide scanners. With Definiens, you can develop your own high-content analysis applications or take advantage of pre-packaged applications (from Definiens or its partners) which you can modify to meet your specific needs.
