Her-2 Scoring on a Cell-by-Cell Basis

Breast tissue stained with Her-2 was analyzed with the Definiens software. The cells were accurately detected and scored based on membrane intensity and circularity of the staining. The software algorithm precisely mimics the established DAKO Her-2 scoring guidelines. The user can output the results in different ways, for example, by defining thresholds for the negative, weakly-, and strongly-stained membrane segments. As a final result, the Her-2 score was reported according to ASCO guidelines, for smaller image selections as well as for the complete slide.
