Jejunum Crypt Proliferation Index

Quantification of the mitotic index within crypts of mice’s small intestines, using the Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen (PCNA) stain for a safety study. The application automatically detects individual crypt units across thousands of images, and measures the mitotic index of each one by calculating positive vs. negative nuclei. This solution is a typical example for the automated segmentation of a heterogeneous, phenotypically highly variable structure (= the crypt units). The automated analysis performed for this study resulted in considerable time and resource savings.
