The image analysis challenge

Image analysis and information extraction is the primary bottleneck in most areas of geo-intelligence and remote sensing. It remains largely a manual task, conducted by experts.

The heart of the problem is that for any image there may be many plausible interpretations: it requires great experience to determine the correct interpretation with confidence.
