Definiens offers the most comprehensive technology for analyzing images on every scale, from microscopic cell structures to satellite images. Our software enables users to create and run their own image analysis applications or to take advantage of pre-packaged applications available from Definiens or our partners to extract intelligence from digital imagery. These applications can be used in a fully or semi-automated way - regardless of type, size, dimensionality, analysis complexity or processing volume.

Our image analysis software is based on the unique Definiens Cognition Network Technology® which examines pixels not in isolation, but in context. It builds up a picture iteratively, recognizing groups of pixels as objects. Just like the human mind, it uses the color, shape, texture and size of objects, and especially their context and relationships, to draw the same conclusions and inferences that an experienced analyst would draw.

Definiens provides two platforms, the Definiens Enterprise Image Intelligence™ Suite, designed for two dimensional image analysis and Definiens XD designed for multidimensional image analysis. Each of them contains Developer Client Software for building or modifying image analysis applications, End User Client Software for running applications and viewing results, and a Server Software for batch processing. Based on those platforms you can either develop your own image analysis application or take advantage of pre-packaged applications (developed by Definiens or its partners) which you can modify to meet your specific needs.
