Definiens Secures Two Million Euros in Growth Funding from Bayern Kapital

MUNICH, Germany, December 13th, 2006 - Definiens AG, the number one Enterprise Image Intelligence™ company, is continuing its dynamic growth by yet again investing in the development and introduction of new products in the life sciences and earth sciences markets. As such, Bayern Kapital, a one hundred percent subsidiary of LfA Förderbank Bayern, is supporting Definiens' growth strategy by investing two million euros in a silent partnership. This specifically supplements the financial participation of TVM Capital, which became a lead investor in Definiens in May 2006.

Ranked as one of Deloitte's "Fast 50", the Enterprise Image Intelligence company is one of Germany's fastest-growing technology companies with a total of eighty employees at its corporate headquarters in Munich, Germany and in its branch offices in Great Britain and the United States.

In the next three years Definiens will focus investments in a new software and service offering. The company's emphasis will be on enhancing its Definiens Enterprise Image Intelligence Platform by developing application-specific solutions for the life sciences and earth sciences markets and by boosting its sales and marketing activities. Definiens will use the Bayern Kapital funding to further strengthen its position in selected future markets around the world and to further develop and accelerate revenue growth. "We are pleased that our partnership is able to contribute to the successful development of this Munich-based high tech company. As such, Definiens is visibly contributing to the evolution of Bavaria as a high tech hub," stated Roman Huber, managing director of Bayern Kapital.

As Thomas Heydler, chief executive officer of Definiens AG, commented: "The commitment of Bayern Kapital is a further sign of confidence in our trusted technology. Not only does this additional funding provide Definiens with a strong and reliable ally but it also enables our operations to be vastly more flexible as we meet our growth targets."
