Definiens Partners with IBM to Develop Information Management Architecture Framework for Enterprise Image Analysis

Munich, Germany - April 18th, 2007 - Definiens, the number one Enterprise Image Intelligence company today announced its collaboration with IBM. The partnership will accelerate the development of an information management architecture framework for enterprise image intelligence deployments. The architecture will combine the knowledge-based Definiens Enterprise Image Intelligence Suite of products with IBM's hardware, storage and information management technology. The joint activities and investments will focus primarily on the Life and Earth Sciences markets worldwide.

Definiens and IBM will provide a new architecture that enables end user organizations to standardize on a complete solution for enterprise image analysis, which easily integrates with other applications and systems. The new architecture will optimize the use of digital images, effectively manage specific image analysis ruleware, and enable the sharing of results with different departments and individuals. By sharing and comparing image analysis results, experts gain increased insights that support the decision making processes. Due to the exponential growth of the volume and size of digital images, the costs associated with digital imagery are increasing significantly. With this new information management architecture framework for enterprise image intelligence, organizations will be able to lower the overall costs and extract further relevant information from images more quickly, enabling better business decisions.

"Working with IBM brings substantial expertise to our business, accelerating our roadmap by more than two years and providing significant value to our customers in the Life Sciences and Earth Sciences markets," said Rene Hermes, Vice President of Marketing at Definiens. "Combining our resources, IBM and Definiens can jointly deliver domain and industry expertise. Definiens will continue to build out its capabilities, offering organizations complete solutions in all aspects of enterprise image analysis", he added.

To best serve the needs of mutual customers, IBM's Global Business Services consultants will work together with Definiens' experts to jointly apply their knowledge of information platforms and best practices.
