Definiens Introduces Version 3.0 of its 2-DGE Software Proteomweaver

Munich - December 21, 2004: Definiens, a leading provider of advanced image analysis solutions, introduces version 3.0 of Proteomweaver®, integrating a number of enhancements to its already feature rich software.

Proteomweaver enables the precise analysis of 2-D gel electrophoresis images, even for large volume analyses with a high data throughput. Proteomweaver delivers a high level of automation providing advanced quality of data extraction, data analysis and proteomic and lab data management. The latest enhancements to the product include advanced metadata handling to annotate experiments, gels and spots with information on species, tissue, experimenter, sample preparation, staining, sequence, and mass spec data. A powerful search engine helps the user to retrieve experiments easily according to their annotations. The metadata concept may utilize the gel's proteome landscape as a natural and central entry point into further proteomic research. Other innovative features include the ability to visualize the results of Proteomweaver noise reduction filters to find optimal settings. Enhanced spot labels and comprehensive XML/HTML based reports with information on spot statistics, parameter settings and analysis sets facilitates the communication on the generated proteomic knowledge.

Dr. Günter Schmidt, Product Manager at Definiens said, "Proteomics research demands consistency, accuracy and reliability from analysis software. As a product, Proteomweaver delivers on all these counts. This new version of Proteomweaver will enable proteomics researchers to generate and utilize high quality biological data quickly and reliably. Researchers carrying out 2-D electrophoresis gel analysis can now directly start with significant results, rather than spending time on endless manual data extraction."
