Definiens appoints new Chief Executive Officer

Munich, Germany – November 23, 2004: Definiens, a leading provider of advanced image analysis solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas P. Heydler as Chief Executive Officer. Thomas is joining Definiens to strengthen the company's leadership team on its way to significantly expand its business on a global basis.

Prior to joining Definiens, Thomas held positions as President and CEO at InterPro Business Solutions, Inc., and Barcelona Design, Inc., located in the Bay Area. Before that, Thomas served as Vice President and Executive Officer at Documentum Inc., a leading software and solutions provider with specific focus on the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry. Thomas was initially building and driving Documentum's European operations and subsequently assuming worldwide responsibilities for Marketing and Documentum's Application Business. Prior to this engagement, Thomas hold senior management positions at Cadence Design Systems and Siemens AG.
